The Tina Project

Answering the Call, and Being Answered.

For 23 years, Tina Pesina was the calm voice on the other end of the line, an APD 911 dispatcher guiding others through their most difficult moments. When she faced one of her own, it was our chance to show up for her.

After losing her leg at 17, Tina refused to let it define her story. She became a competitive wheelchair racer, built a meaningful career with APD, and created a life rooted in strength and perseverance. But her home, the place that should support her most, no longer met her needs.

Freccia was proud to stand alongside HomeAid Austin, Operation Finally Home, and Gary Henley of Henley Homes to help change that. Together we renovated her home for accessibility, dignity, and independence: a fresh start, and the beginning of her next chapter. The project was completed in September, and Tina is loving her new space, which gives her so much more freedom and mobility.
